Kiwanis Club of Christiansburg Presents Gift Cards to Three Schools

As an extension of the Dress a Kid program and school supply program, Oliver Lewis, MCPS Family Engagement Administrator and Kiwanis member, and Kiwanian Ernie Wade presented $550 Walmart gift cards to three county schools. of Montgomery.

Receiving the cards were: Principal of CHS, Gene Jones; Montgomery Central School Counselor Ann Lawson; and Belview Primary School Principal Chris Hewitt.

Both of these programs were started several years ago in all Christiansburg schools to serve those in need, and are ongoing programs. Once the schools have used the funds on the cards, they notify the Kiwanis club and the cards are replaced. The Kiwanis Club of Christiansburg funds the cards for $500 and Walmart adds $50.

Funding for service projects like these is generated through fundraising events, including the Kiwanis Wilderness Trail Festival, which is held on the third Saturday in September each year.
